RØDE HELPS SECURE SYDNEYMUSIC’S FUTURE

We’re proud to announce that RØDE has stepped in to help save SydneyMusic, Sydney's most comprehensive online gig guide, just days before it was set to shut down. This partnership ensures that one of the city’s most beloved independent media platforms will continue to champion Sydney's vibrant live music scene.

SydneyMusic.net has been a beacon for the city’s music lovers, connecting fans with over 16,000 live events in the past three years alone. Run by a small but passionate team, the platform has inspired countless readers to explore live music and support local venues. Earlier this year, citing financial challenges, SydneyMusic announced plans to close its doors this month – a decision that sparked an outpouring of community support.

SydneyMusic’s dedication to supporting creators and building community closely aligns with our own values. So, when we heard they were facing imminent closure, we reached out straight away and have pledged to fund a significant portion of their operations for the next two years. This sponsorship not only secures the platform's sustainability but also establishes a connection between two organisations deeply rooted in Sydney’s creative culture.

For SydneyMusic, this support offers not just a second chance but an opportunity to grow. Joe Hardy, SydneyMusic’s Director and Co-Founder, highlighted what this renewed lease on life means for the platform.

“Following our shutdown announcement, RØDE reached out and provided a meaningful and substantial way to support a way forward – right when we thought we’d run out of options,” said Hardy. “We’re over the moon to breathe new life into this project and continue helping people discover and access live music at all levels across our city. SydneyMusic will use our backing to expand its gig coverage, improve technology, and deepen its connection with local artists and readers. But as always, the platform's future success lies in the hands of the community it serves – with local music lovers encouraged to get involved by spreading the word, attending shows, or becoming monthly supporters.
