Vehemence | My Rode Reel 2019

Watch the Behind The Scenes:

We used the Rode Video Mic Pro with the Rode Boom Pole as our main microphone set up. We used the Zoom H6 as our main sound recorder and we shoot the short film on a Sony a7sII with an 18-200mm f3.2 Lens.

As the main cinematography decision, we shoot the entire film on a tripod and few shots on a ronin-m gimbal. This helped a lot since we had a lot of visual effects in the short film also it gave an interesting and more serious look at the film.

We shoot the short film in Malta. We explored a lot of different locations here in Malta also we planned everything to film in the best sunlight as possible.

As this short film had a lot of visual effects, part of our process was by getting good storyboarding / shortlist and even we experimented with pre-visualisation for the last scene. This was very important as we had to find a good indoor location so we could get the proper dimensions of the location room and build a model in a 3D Software, so we could get a realistic dimensions for the "lab surface table" in the last scene and then we could light the scene properly and have the actors interact better during filming.

This was a great experience for all of us especially having the opportunity to try something a bit more different and ambitions in which was a great learning curve.
