The Outstretched Hand of a Chief - My Rode Reel 2019

Watch the Behind The Scenes:

We filmed on location of the Ekasup Cultural Village which is a real village that people can visit and get taken on a tour. In Port VIla, Vanuatu.
All of the actors are locals and are simply reenacting customs and ways of their ancestors. The language spoken is a mix of different dialogues but mainly from their island of Futuna.
Shot on a Canon DSLR and Rode microphone the film was a "run and gun" quick production. Everything was shot under 3 hours and edited within a week.
Music was used from Artlist except for the last track which was created by Sean Haughey.
The story is based loosely on real events because for generations, different tribes had their share of struggles, so it was not uncommon for a chief to welcome others into their community.
Many different tribes and villages had different customs and even languages.
Now days those same languages are still used and the rich culture and customs are not forgotten.
