After spending their entire budget on lunch, Matt Johnson and his crew find cheap ways to implement pro techniques in their short film.

Shot entirely on a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with help from the DJI Osmo 2 for the handheld look, this was filmed in my parents' house, a local park, and a home office as those are the locations the action takes place. The characters chose the park in particular for the abundance of grass, which worked as a perfect substitute for a green screen. The audio for the short was recorded using the classic VideoMic Pro / Zoom H1 combo, though Matt and his crew were pretty confident with their 'Road' Mic. Everything else was fairly standard - I used a generic boom pole, lights, etc. The short and BTS were edited entirely in Adobe Premiere Pro.
As for the video itself, it was mostly shot in 4k 24fps, to allow for plenty of room to add extra handheld movement, since the final product is in 1080p. All the camera focus pulls and zooms were done in editing!
