The Freight Controller will be responsible for freight-related issues, coordination and resolution to ensure a reliable supply of materials timed to meet production requirements. They will advise of freight charges reconciliation, strategize potential freight savings and challenging charges.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare accurate documentation to ensure seamless shipping process by tracking via MRP system.
  • Troubleshooting of ongoing shipments in cooperation with Receiving and Freight forwarders to secure timely communication and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure data completeness and accuracy in MRP system and TMS (Transport Management System) by always interacting with freight forwarders and suppliers.
  • Establish, coordinate and track orders for other departments (i.e. SMT and NPG) to ensure orders are sent in a timely manner.
  • Provide rate quotes to internal department for cost analysis supporting them in accurately making business decisions around overall operational costs.
  • Evaluate and propose opportunities for cost reduction for freight.
  • Utilise rates provided by freight forwarders to compare these with the actual freight bills, making sure cost is met correctly.
  • Investigate over costs freight bills that do not follow the normal process and correct them.

You will require the following skills and experience to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in logistics, supply chain management, operational management or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in freight forwarding, transport industry or similar role
  • Minimum 12 months experience using an MRP system
  • Knowledge of logistics management systems application, customs import, and export regulations
