Getting Started

The cable supplied with the NTH-50s features a different type of connector on each end. Insert the jack plug with the plastic bayonet connector and lock symbol into the left or right headphone earcup. Insert the jack plug with the gold-plated thread into an audio source. If you experience intermittent or crackly audio, check that the cable is attached correctly.

Connecting the Cable to the Headphones

To connect the cable to the headphone earcup, simply insert the plastic bayonet end into the socket and twist the connector clockwise to lock it into place. To remove it, simply twist counter-clockwise to unlock and pull free.

The NTH-50s feature cable attachments on both earcups, allowing you to connect the cable where it is most convenient.

Connecting the Headphones to your Device

The supplied cable comes with a standard 3.5mm jack plug for connecting to devices with a 3.5mm output, such as laptops and desktop computers. Also included is a 1/4-inch to 3.5mm adaptor for connecting to professional audio equipment, such as mixers and audio interfaces. This adaptor screws securely onto the end with the gold-plated thread.

Using the COLOR ID Rings

The NTH-50s come with a set of eight COLOR ID rings. These can be used for quick identification in setups where multiple pairs of headphones are in use. To use them, remove the black ID ring that clips around the body of the plugs at either end of the cable, and replace it with your preferred colour. Note that the colours match the channel ID colours used by RØDECaster Series interfaces and RØDE Connect.

Adjusting the Headband

With the headphones on, hold the earcup of the side you are adjusting and gently push up or pull down the headband until a desired fit is achieved. When not in use, place the headphones in the included soft cloth bag and/or packaging.

Earpad and Headband Removal and Cleaning

To remove the earpads from the headphones, simply pull them away from the earcup. To replace, push them back into place, working around the perimeter to ensure all the tabs are locked into place.

There are three tabs that keep the headband connected to the headband cushion. To remove the headband cushion, hold the left earcup in your left hand and the right earcup in your right hand. With your right hand, carefully unclip the headband cushion just above the coiled section of the cable that connects to the left earcup, then slide the headband cushion to the left. Unclip the right tab and the headband cushion will become dislodged.

To reapply the headband cushion, align the cushion at the middle tab with the headphones facing in the same direction and slide it to the right to lock it in place. Now, simply clip the left and right tabs back into place. If you have the headphones facing in the other direction (left earcup in your right hand and right earcup in your left hand, slide the cushion to the right when unlocking the middle tab).

To clean the pads and headband, simply wipe with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the pads in water, or use leather or suede cleaning products, as this may damage the pad. Replacement pads and headbands are available – please contact our service centre if you need new pads and/or a new headband.
