RØDE Is the Go-to Audio Brand in Film and TV, Behind the Scenes and On-screen
RØDE products are some of the most iconic audio devices in the world. From our legendary RØDE-emblazoned shotgun windshields to the striking red of our VideoMic shockmounts and the alluring glow of the RØDECaster Pro, they are instantly recognisable – so much so that, in many cases, they have become the very archetype of their category.
For this reason, RØDE mics and other devices have found their way into the props departments of countless films and TV shows (as well as being the go-to in production). Here are six recent occasions that you may have seen your favourite RØDE product pop up on the screen!

Eternals (2021) – NTG2
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) once again brought one of their trademark comics to the big screen in late 2021 with the release of Eternals. The film recounts the saga of “The Eternals”, a race of immortal beings who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years, shaping its history and civilisations. Keeping in tone with the franchise thus far, Eternals is another big-budget blockbuster that's packed with the action and adventure you've come to expect from a Marvel movie.

In the frame above, the classic RØDE NTG2 shotgun microphone can be seen mounted atop a video camera in one of multiple RØDE appearances in the film. In another scene when Kingo (played by Kumail Nanjiani) is explaining the differences between “The Avengers” and “The Eternals”, the iconic RØDE windshield is clearly recognisable at the top left of the frame.
WandaVision (2021) – RØDECaster Pro
Another Marvel masterpiece, but this time taken to the small screen, WandaVision is a mini-series that features Wanda Maximoff and Vision from the MCU. Following on from the outrageously popular Avengers: Endgame (2019), WandaVision blends the premise and style of classic sitcoms with the MCU, where the two superheroes try to assimilate into idyllic suburban lives in an attempt to conceal their identities.

As the final scene transitions to the end credits in the very first episode of season one, the camera slowly zooms out to reveal a room filled with AV equipment. The RØDECaster Pro is fixed on a table to the right of frame, firmly juxtaposing the largely black-and-white aesthetic of the episode.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019) – VideoMic Pro+ & VideoMic NTG
A thrilling series that’s about to enter its fourth season, Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive To Survive is an edge-of-your-seat documentary series that gives viewers exclusive and intimate access to the drivers, managers and team owners that live life in the fast lane competing in one of the world’s greatest competitions: Formula 1 racing.

In another instance, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner can be seen using the VideoMic NTG while on a sponsorship Zoom call with other racing team heads prior to the inaugural race of the 2020 Formula 1 season (see above). Even in one of the most fast-paced professions, RØDE is still the brand of choice for run-and-gun filmmaking!
$456,000 Squid Game In Real Life! (2021) – VideoMic Pro+
2021 was one of the most memorable years for film and TV in recent times. One of the biggest surprises of the year was the massive popularity of the gruesome Korean Netflix drama Squid Game, which dominated TV screens globally and took home boatloads of awards in a multitude of different categories. The series puts a spin on a series of children's games, throwing hundreds of cash-strapped "players" into a survival-of-the-fittest scenario, with the winner taking home a multimillion-dollar prize.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the series, it was inevitable that remakes and reproductions would come to the fore. Sure enough in late 2021, MrBeast – who runs the 5th most subscribed channel on YouTube in the world (at the time of writing) – put together an almighty rendition of the Squid Game series into a 25-minute video.
Based on the original plot but featuring a "real-life" twist, MrBeast's $456,000 Squid Game In Real Life! is filmed almost entirely with DSLR cameras with the trusty VideoMic Pro+ mounted atop it. With a whopping 218 million views and counting (at the time of writing), it's safe to say that he hit it out of the park this one!
Archive 81 (2022) – PodMic
Based on the podcast of the same name, Archive 81 is a sci-fi mystery horror series revolving around Dan Turner, an archivist recruited to restore and catalogue the video archives of a missing filmmaker that was investigating a dangerous cult.

With a storyline involving plenty of studio time, it's only natural that a studio staple like the PodMic made its way into the series, pictured above in season one, episode one.
Hype House (2022) – VideoMic Pro+
In a time when TikTok has risen to the top of the social media pyramid, it’s no surprise that it has made its way from smartphones and computers to TV screens around the world. One example is Hype House, a deep-dive inside of the lives of TikTok's most famous overnight sensations living and creating viral content in a mansion in sunny LA.

In the race for views, likes and reposts, members of the Hype House go to extreme lengths to create the most audacious and outside-the-box content imaginable. An example of this is in the scene above, where one of the Hype House members tangles with a sumo wrestler, captured on a DSLR camera with a VideoMic Pro+ on top.
Not only are RØDE products the choice of today's creative generation behind the scenes, but they are the go-to audio devices on-screen too. These are just six recent examples – if you've seen any others, let us know on our socials!
