Pro Tip

For podcasting or streaming on your computer with the AI-Micro, we recommend using the free RØDE Connect software. This allows you to unlock advanced audio processing and a host of other powerful features. See the section on ‘Using the AI-Micro with RØDE Apps’ for more information.

Pro Tip

For recording high-quality audio to your mobile device, we recommend using the free RØDE Reporter app. This allows for complete device configuration, unlocking advanced features and broadcast-grade recording and export. See the section on ‘Using the AI-Micro with RØDE Apps’ for more information.

Pro Tip

TRS vs TRRS: What is the Difference?

The terms TRS and TRRS refer to the type of connector a microphone or audio cable has. TRS stands for Tip-Ring-Sleeve and TRRS stands for Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve, referring to the segments of the cable plug. They are easy to differentiate by the black bands on the plug: two bands = TRS, three bands = TRRS. Most microphones with a 3.5mm output have a TRS connector, though some are TRRS (these are generally designed to plug into mobile devices and computers). The AI-Micro's auto-sensing inputs allow both TRS and TRRS microphones/cables to be connected without the need for adaptors.

Note

The direct monitoring only supports monaural outputs, meaning that even if you are recording using stereo or split mode, the sound from the AI-Micro will be monaural (merged) sound.

Note

Any changes made to the AI-Micro’s settings in RØDE Reporter or RØDE Connect will not be retained when using it with third-party apps and software. To do so, use RØDE Central.

Note

If you are recording with a stereo microphone in ‘Merged’ mode, the left and right channels of the input will be routed to both the left and the right channels of the output, so you will lose the microphone’s stereo image. If you record in ‘Split’ mode, only one channel of audio will be active. Hence why it's important that you use 'Stereo' mode.
