RØDE Honoured as Australia's Top Exporting Manufacturer
The Australian Export Awards recognised iconic pro-audio company RØDE Microphones on Tuesday evening, awarding it the coveted ‘Manufacturing Award’ at its annual presentation dinner. Now in its 51st year, the Australian Export Awards are designed to honour Australian companies doing business on a world stage. The award is considered to be one of the highest possible business accolades that can be bestowed upon an Australian based business. Australia’s Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Tony Abbott, was present at the awards ceremony and praised the company for “innovation in marketing strategy, the degree of export growth and the creation of competitive advantage”.
The award tops off a record year for RØDE, who expanded to a total of 108 global markets, won multiple international product design awards and released a number of exciting new products including the recent NT1, M5 and VideoMic GO microphones. The company recently doubled the size of its manufacturing plant and company headquarters in Sydney, significantly increasing its capacity to meet the unprecedented, rapidly-expanding international demand for its products, as well as further vertically integrating its operations. “Their international success enhances our overall economic diplomacy” commented national Trade and Investment Minister, Andrew Robb, following the awards presentation. “They represent the vanguard of Australia's international businesses, and the awards recognise that".
RØDE’s founder and Managing Director, Peter Freedman, was absolutely ecstatic at the accolade. “This truly is the highest compliment that RØDE has been given in more than twenty years of business. We’re proud to be Australian – designing and manufacturing the world’s very best microphones right here in Sydney and shipping them to every corner of the globe.” The 51st Australian Export Awards were presented at a gala event in the Great Hall at the National Gallery Victoria, Melbourne on Tuesday 26 November 2013. Twelve companies in total were recognised for their exporting across categories such as health service, agriculture and business services. Together, the 76 finalists contributed $9.1 billion in export earnings to the Australian economy, and employed more than 22,000 people.
