Watch How To Securely Attach The Wireless GO Windshield
Released 08 May 2019, Last Updated 21 Mar 2022
We've been blown away by the response to the Wireless GO since its release. "Game changer" and "the best wireless microphone" are just a few of the accolades that we've seen so far, and we can't wait to see what people continue to do with it.
In case you've missed it, Wireless GO is the world’s smallest, most versatile wireless microphone system. The transmitter works as both a clip-on mic thanks to the built-in omnidirectional condenser mic or as the world’s smallest beltpack for a lavalier, sending crystal clear broadcast-grade audio via 2.4GHz digital transmission to the ultra-compact receiver. For those who do use the Wireless GO transmitter as a clip on lav mic, we've included two windshields with the Wireless GO to help diffuse wind noise.
One of the most common bits of feedback we've had from users is that the supplied windshield (or 'deadcat' or 'dead kitten' - whatever you choose to call it) tends to fall off quite easily. There is actually a simple way to attach the windshield more securely and make sure it stays put. We've made a short video to show you how.
Check it out below!
It's pretty straightforward.
There is a small plastic cage inside the windshield that supports the furry. This has two little legs that engage with the holes in the transmitter. When inserted properly, these legs form a tight bond between the windshield and reciever. However, many users are having trouble because the legs are being obscured by the furry – which can mean the windshield easily falls off.
To ensure a strong connection between the windshield and the transmitter, pull back the fur on the windshield to fully expose the clips, as seen in the video above. Then you can push the legs firmly into the transmitter, lining up the clips with the holes.
Finally, firmly wiggle the cage to ensure that the rubber has engaged properly. This last part is important, as it ensures the clips are properly inserted.
This should ensure the windshield stays tight and secure.
