Your responsibilities will include:

• Drive product development initiatives from concept to mass production, overseeing the design, development, and specification of parts, components, and assemblies.

• Ensure that all projects meet the high standards of functional and technical performance aligned with the RØDE brand.

• Apply knowledge of electronic design philosophy to contribute effectively to product design processes.

• To independently execute product updates and releases with minimal supervision.

• Conduct performance testing and quality control measures to uphold product excellence.

• Engage closely with local and international suppliers and partners to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with project objectives.

• Utilize 3D software to generate and review designs, including technical drawings, engineering specifications, Bill of Materials, and related documentation.

• Collaborate effectively on Request for Quotation (RFQ), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Quality Assurance (QA) processes.

• Integrate principles of Ergonomics and User Experience into mechanical designs, providing inputs on mechanical test criteria and manufacturing processes.

• Fabricate prototypes using modern prototyping tools and processes for thorough evaluation and testing.

• Conduct feasibility studies on critical components/parts to inform design decisions.

• Assess and align production and fitting processes, ensuring adherence to tolerance chain considerations and design specifications.

• Facilitate the handover and execution of Cross-Functional processes such as quality assurance, manufacturing, and pilot runs.

• Assist in compliance and certification processes to meet regulatory requirements.

You will require the following qualifications and/or skills and experience to be successful:

• Demonstrated industry expertise in product design engineering within the consumer/technology sector, with a strong track record in problem-solving (experience in electromechanical domains is highly preferred).

• Proficiency in navigating in-house product development environments, successfully delivering projects from conceptualisation to production. Particularly adept at detailing design concepts, conducting prototype testing, managing mechanical drawings, and overseeing product verification processes.

• Extensive experience across a range of manufacturing processes, including injection moulding, metal casting, metal fabrication, and CNC machining (good to have).

• Practical understanding of materials, encompassing their properties and finishing techniques, with a focus on plastics and metals.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

• Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks.

• Proficient in CAD software, particularly advanced modelling in SolidWorks (required) and familiarity with OnShape (desirable).
